2022 Pet-Nat

Go There Wines Releases Our 2023 Pinot Noir Rosé Pet-Nat

ABOUT THE WINE: If this is your first Pet-nat, you have come to the right place. The term pet-nat is actually an abbreviation for “pétillant naturel”—a French term that roughly translates to “naturally sparkling. We like to think of a pet-nat as champagne's wilder cousin, the one who raises a few eyebrows coming in the door, but quickly becomes the life of the party. The grapes for this Pinot Noir Rosé pet-nat are from two unique high-altitude vineyards covered in snow during the winter: one plot facing the Mediterranean at 4600 feet above sea level next Wadi Annoubin–a UNESCO world heritage site, and the other at 5400 feet above sea level on the Bekaa side of Mount Lebanon, where Bacchus–the God of Wine–built his temple. After direct press, these grapes ferment for 3 weeks in a chilled stainless tank, then they are bottled where fermentation continues for a few days. The bubbles are all naturally occurring, a by-product of the in-bottle fermentation. The wine is left in contact with the lees for many months, before it is disgorged in winter.

TASTING NOTES: A mellow sparkling with a gentle mousse of bubbles; crunchy morello cherries and lemongrass with a savory brioche finish. Modest tartness makes this bottle a winner as an aperitif, and even for dessert. We recommend drinking this bottle with friends in one sitting for three different taste experiences as the bottle approaches room temperature. Serve the first glasses ice cold, the second glasses chilled, and the final glasses slightly cooler than room
temperature. Internally we disagree about which glass is the most delightful, let us know what you think!

ABOUT THE WINEMAKERS: Abdullah Richi is a Syrian refugee making wine in exile in Lebanon. The entire Go There team is blown away by Abdullah as both a person and as a winemaker. He says it best himself: “Don't drink this wine out of sympathy. Drink it because it is damn good. And know, one day soon, I will be making wine in my homeland again.”

AWARDS AND HONORS: Abdullah is gaining increased exposure as a winemaker pioneering natural winemaking in the Fertile Crescent and has recently been highlighted in a number of publications including the Washington Post, SevenFiftyDaily, the Napa Valley Register and other wine-focused publications in Lebanon around the world.
